인류와 문명은 지속가능한 발전을 위해서 무엇을 이루었고 무엇을 이루어야 할까요? 과학과 기술이 이 문제를 함께 해결해 나가기 위해서 어떤 고민과 노력을 해야할지 그 철학과 구체적 방법을 모색하는 것이 필요합니다.
2009년 한국과학창의재단 지원으로 설립된 경희대학교 녹색성장 교육연구센터, KHU GERC 에서는 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화, 과학, 기술을 망라하는 다양한 분야의 전문가와 초등학교부터 대학까지 여러 교육 현장의 실무자가 모여 지속가능 발전 교육을 연구하고 관련 활동을 실천해 왔습니다.
2016년 본 센터는 경희대학교 자연과학연구원 산하로 소속이 바뀌면서 그동안 축적된 탄소중립 교육, 녹색성장 교육 및 지속가능발전 교육(ESD)에 활용될 수 있는 다양한 전문가 풀과 교육용 자료를 자체적으로 보급, 활용하는 일을 진행해 나가고 있습니다.

Message from the Director
The world currently faces the dual challenges of climate change and an energy crisis.
As we strive for sustainable development, we must reflect on what humanity and civilization have achieved thus far—and what remains to be done. It is essential that we explore the philosophies and practical methodologies required for science and technology to collaboratively address these global issues.
Since its establishment in 2009 with support from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC), the Green Growth Education and Research Center (GERC) at Kyung Hee University has been a hub for progress. Our center brings together experts across various fields—including politics, economics, society, culture, science, and technology—alongside educators from primary to higher education to research and implement Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
In 2016, the Center was reorganized under the Institute of Natural Sciences at Kyung Hee University. Since then, we have focused on disseminating and utilizing our extensive pool of experts and educational resources, all of which have been developed through years of dedicated research in carbon-neutral education, green growth, and sustainable development.
